What we collect, what we don't, and what you control

Privacy policy

FinancialDepth ("we", "the site") operates the website at financialdepth.com. This policy explains what information reaches us when you use the site, what third parties may set on your device, and how to change those settings. It applies to every page and calculator on this domain.

The short version

You do not need an account to use anything here, and we never ask for one. The numbers you type into a calculator — your savings, income, debts, expenses, ages — are processed entirely inside your own browser and are never transmitted to us or stored on our servers. We hold no database of user financial data because we never receive any. What we do have access to is aggregated, non-identifying traffic information, plus whatever cookies our advertising and analytics partners set on your device, which you can refuse or clear at any time.

Information you provide directly

Calculator inputs. Every tool on this site runs as client-side JavaScript. When you enter a portfolio balance into the FIRE calculator or a mortgage figure into the early-payoff tool, the computation happens on your device and the result is rendered locally. Nothing is posted to a server, logged, or associated with you.

"Remember my inputs". Some tools offer to retain the values you entered so you do not have to retype them next visit. This uses your browser's local storage, which is a per-device, per-browser store that we cannot read remotely. Clearing your browser's site data for financialdepth.com removes it immediately and permanently.

Email. If you write to us at turnomega@gmail.com, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it only to reply, and to keep a record of corrections reported against our calculators. The inbox is hosted by Google (Gmail), so messages are stored on Google's servers under Google's privacy policy. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list, and we do not sell, rent, or share email addresses.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider and our measurement and advertising partners record standard technical request data: IP address, user agent, referring page, requested URL, and timestamp. This is used for security, abuse prevention, error diagnosis, and aggregate traffic measurement. We do not attempt to identify individual visitors from it.

Cookies and similar technologies

A cookie is a small file a site or its partners store on your device. We use the following categories:

Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function and to remember your own privacy choice on the consent banner. These cannot be switched off through the banner.

Analytics. Used to understand which pages are read and where visitors leave, in aggregate. This tells us which calculators deserve more work.

Advertising. Used by Google and its partners to select and measure the ads shown on this site, as described below.

Google AdSense and advertising

This site is monetized through Google AdSense. The following disclosures are required of AdSense publishers and apply here:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings (myadcenter.google.com).
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
• Where required by law, advertising and analytics cookies are set only after you give consent. We implement Google Consent Mode v2, so your choice on the banner is passed to Google before any ad or measurement tag loads. Declining does not remove ads; it means the ads you see are not personalized.

Third parties who may receive data

We do not sell personal information. The only parties that may receive data through your use of this site are the service providers we depend on to run it:

• Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, and network security. Processes request metadata to serve pages and block abuse.
• Google AdSense — advertising selection, delivery, and measurement.
• Google Fonts — serves the Inter and Space Grotesk typefaces used across the site; requests reach Google's font servers.
• cdn.jsdelivr.net / CDN-hosted libraries — delivers the Chart.js charting library used on calculator pages.
• Analytics providers — aggregate traffic measurement, where enabled.

How long data is kept

We do not operate a user database, so there is nothing for us to retain about you beyond the categories below. Server and CDN request logs held by our hosting provider are retained on that provider's standard schedule, generally measured in days to a small number of weeks, and are used for security and diagnostics only. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed to answer the question and to document any calculator correction it triggers, and is deleted on request. Cookies expire on the schedule set by the party that placed them — Google's advertising cookie lifetimes are documented in the Google policy linked above — and you can delete all of them at any time through your browser's settings. Data stored by the "remember my inputs" feature stays on your device until you clear it, and never reaches us at any point.

Your choices and rights

You can decline non-essential cookies on the consent banner, and change that decision later by clearing site data for financialdepth.com and reloading any page. You can block or delete cookies entirely through your browser settings; the calculators will continue to work normally. You can opt out of personalized advertising at the Google and industry links above, independently of anything you do on this site.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data relating to you, and to object to processing. Because we hold no account records, in most cases the answer will be that we hold nothing about you; where we do hold something — typically an email thread — write to turnomega@gmail.com and we will action the request.

Children

This site is aimed at adults making financial planning decisions. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.

International visitors

The site is served from a global content delivery network, so pages may be delivered from, and request metadata processed in, a country other than your own, including the United States. By using the site you accept that technical processing may occur outside your country of residence.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes materially — a new advertising partner, a new category of processing — we update the "last updated" date at the top and revise the relevant section. Continuing to use the site after a change means the revised policy applies to your use.
